Seeing about 20/30% packet loss at the moment. Don't think this is related to the earlier work.
I've made some progress with setting up the RAID today, hence the up/down nature of the box. Current state of play is:
New kernel built and tested
RAID and LVM auto mounting tested
/var, /var/mail, /var/www have been moved to the new disk
Will hopefully finish the migration tomorrow.
Also upgraded:
php/mod_php : http://security.gentoo.org/glsa/glsa-200412-14.xml
jabberd : http://security.gentoo.org/glsa/glsa-200409-31.xml
SquirrelMail has been updated to 1.4.4 as per : http://security.gentoo.org/glsa/glsa-200501-39.xml
A patch has been applied to MovableType as per : http://www.movabletype.org/news/2005/01/movable_type_315_release.shtml
AWStats will be upgraded before it's final rollout as per : http://security.gentoo.org/glsa/glsa-200501-36.xml
The new disk is in. Server is up and running again now. Will be up and down a bit over the next couple of days.
Obelisk will be offline tomorrow (Weds 27th) from about 12:30 to 13:30 whilst it has a new drive added.
There will be further reboots of the server on Weds and Thurs whilst I sort out the mirroring but these should be for no longer than 5-10 minutes.
I've asked DediPower how much it would be for an extra 40gig hard drive for Obelisk so I can RAID the server. This should enable it to survive a total hard disk failure.
They're prepared to do this half price at £10 per month. Is anyone prepared to pony up a few quid in a monthly standing order to go towards the cost?
Just think how nice and resiliant your data will be :)
Virus scanning has been enabled on inbound email. It has been activated for all users so it should be checking your mails already.
If a virus is found the following headers are added to the email:
X-Virus-Status: Yes
X-Virus-Report: Worm.Mabutu.A-unp FOUND
The 'subject' line of the email is also rewritten to include the string *****VIRUS*****
For mails without viruses the following headers are added:
X-Virus-Status: No
If this causes you a problem please let me know.
If you update your procmail recipie to filter on these headers let me know and I'll update the mail sorting script with your updated recipie.
If you use IMAP (but not procmail) and would like auto-delivery of your infected mail to a different folder let me know the folder name and I'll sort something out.
The scanning is performed by ClamAV and the virus signature database is automatically refreshed twice a day.
BTW you are gently reminded that obelisk's hosting isn't free, purchases from my wish list are much appreciated.
