Just to let you know Newswall is not affected by the security vulnerabilities recently announced for Apache 2. Newswall runs Apache 1.3.29-r1.
It appears MSN Messenger is down and thus the Jabber -> MSN connector isn't doing anything useful.
According to the official status page everything is okay, but it appears not.
No further update to follow, it'll just start working again hopefully. I'll give Jabber a restart later if it's not.

The power in the flat tripped out yesterday at about 17:20 due to a faulty iron causing newswall to be briefly unavailable.
The kernel was upgraded to 2.4.25_pre7-gss-r2 last night. This resolves this privilege escalation issue : http://isec.pl/vulnerabilities/isec-0014-mremap-unmap.txt.
Welcome to newswall/news.
Here you will find news about newswall. Details of patching, upgrades, expected downtime, etc...
This should replace most mail to the various user lists. Hope you find it useful.
This is a read only 'blog', you can mail admin@newswall.org.uk with any queries. A nicer design might appear at some point.
